Is the coffee extraction pouring too fast
A finer grind is required. Rotate the adjustment collar anti- clockwise the equivalent of one notch (the notches are the lines on the exterior side of the collar rather than the numbers on the top).
NB. Each notch adjustment will slow your pour down by two to three seconds.
Is the coffee extraction pouring too slow
A coarser grind is required. Rotate the adjustment collar clockwise the equivalent of one notch.
NB. After every grind adjustment discard two baskets of coffee. This is in addition to any excess grind remaining in the chamber.
Sample extraction pouring rate
After adjustments have been made & old grind discarded, prepare another basket, insert, engage & time it. It’s a good idea to use a stopwatch to ensure the pouring rate is in between five & eight seconds for the initial, rich, heavy drops & that it completes between 25 & 30 seconds in order to achieve 30-35ml extraction.
NB. La Marzocco pouring rate 5-8 secs, Wega 7-10 secs.
